A little cheesy to do so, but I can't help but to think of Gabe when I hear this song.
Used it as some background music during a recent dramatic fight between family and enemy... I believe the word "epic" sums that up quite well.
Nah, I dunno. It just works somehow. Play the song and rp with Gabe and you'll have a bit of insight to how I get into character.

- About My Characters:
- The merman Gabriel is a heterosexual who has ventured the waters for about three decades. As an outcast, he has formed his own family consisting mainly of three maids that can get away with calling him "Gabe."
His travels have enabled him to learn various types of mer languages, though he is only well-versed in his native dialect. Gabriel, a shifter, has been able to walk the lands as well, which has given him a better ease at speaking in common.
+ Most mers have the ability to gain human appearance, but Gabe's abilities go a bit farther. He can make a quite convincing human when the mood strikes him. He has an ability to stay on land far longer than other mers before his skin feels dry and the water calls him back for regaining lifeforce.
+ Though most mer have the gift of the Siren's Song, Gabriel rarely uses it with his voice. Instead, he prefers to put his efforts into flute playing. It is not that he is unable to sing, but simply a matter of preference.
+ As with most of his kind, he is a very speedy swimmer. His highly muscular form makes up for his smoking habit on land.
+ His muscles are quite impresive. They are a mixture of genetics, mermen being designed ths way to protec the fairer sex and their constant swimming, and from the way he pushes himself.
+ Gabriel is also fairly accurate wih a bow. Though he is able to bring harm with his bare hands, he finds the bow to be aremarkable tool.
His weaknesses include his maids, his ego, his desire to smoke, and some would say his lack of faith in the sea goddess could bring him harm. Also, becuase of his shifting, he is not as in touch with the sea as his kindred. His lack of faith brings him ill measures in the water in exchange for his abilities on land.
+Background:
His parents named him after a character in the human judeau-christian religion's holy book. They thought it had a beautiful sound to it and hoped it would lead him down a righteous path. They hoped he would be as devoted to the gods as the rest of his siblings, but perhaps there was a bit of symbolism in their choice of name. Gabriel followed his own path. He believed in the tales of the sea god and goddess, but was reluctant to practice such beliefs as others did. His song, he felt, was reserved for other, greater purposes than for worshiping a goddess he doubted even listened.
Mers are often viewed as a peaceful race, though they are known in lore to cause mischief and misfortune. Gabriel never felt at peace. He watched the others play gaily with each other and the other races, but he did not have the urge to join in. This is not to say he could not be kind, as he most certainly could. One who found themselves in his small circle would find him to be a loyal protector and confidant. This would be the opposite for an outsider. He may often seem cold, uncaring, and possibly even pose a threat. However, Gabriel is not evil. He is simply self-centered and very concerned with how others perceive him. Frankly, he desires others to admire him at any cost. If it means being left alone, he would be happy if they feared him. It isn't a matter of good or evil with Gabe - it's just that his world is all about him.
Gabriel grew up around a trio of mermaids that he tends to let his guard down around. While he has no interest in fathering children, he could see himself loving any or all of these sisters. Ja'Niiva, Vaea, and Opium - one could say they are his weakness. If it weren't for their insistant pleading, he would never have been seen on dry land. Yet, now that he's been up on the grass and walked with the pedestrians, he believes he could find use for their world. Even if it is just to pop up for a smoke.
Still, no one should take his softness for these females the wrong way. Gabriel isn't a softie with a hard shell. He plays the tough guy role because he truly believes he's a badass and he wants you to believe it, too. But no one is monolithic - Gabe has his moments.

My character may be a douchebag, but I'm nice and reasonable. Honestly, I'm pretty shy to start roleplaying with unfamiliar people. Gabe isn't often interested in others, but if you address him, he will react. :)
I'll play with anyone, but people who are elitist can cross me off the list.
I tend to be a paragraph writer, so please don't think I'm ignoring you. I just put a lot of effort into my words. Sometimes it takes a bit to impress me, but don't take that the wrong way.
