Very Slight Discussion Topic changes (For Ning)
Heyla everyone!
With all the changes going about to make life a better roleplaying area for everyone in the land of Karamoon, we are also giving the NING a bit more explanation and overhaul. We hope this will make things easier for both the players to know where and how to post things and better navigate around the NING, and will also help us keep track of conversations.
Please bear with us! And give your own suggestions. We are still working out the finer details, but do want this to be something that is better benefitting everyone.
The First thing we are doing is rearranging and adding to the FORUM discussions. We will be giving more detailed options and hopefully be opening the forums to be an area that all players can ask general questions on various IC or OOC related KM topics AND most importantly share. The sharing in my opinion is important when we have such a global community in Ambrea. This way no matter what your time zone, you can in some way keep tabs on the thoughts and questions going on with people across the globe.
The discussion topics will be changed as Follows:
* Rules and Administration- This will still be an ADMIN specific discussion board. Any player may comment on a discussion open in this forum, but only the Admin and Mods can add a Discussion.
* Karamoon Characters and Backgrounds – This Discussion forum will be open for all players to start discussion based on questions on Karamoon histories, backgrounds, IC religions, IC races, Character Creations, and the like. We hope to make this an open and helpful area for those wishing to either share their thoughts on the histories made in Karamoon already, discuss race perceptions, and also help out newer players get to know the SIMS we all love so dearly.
* Events – The Discussion forum will be open for players that wish to promote IN CHARACTER Events OR Spontaneous gatherings of players, sub factions and factions throughout Karamoon. This will also be a place to openly discuss ideas of events and group gatherings players think will work while in the IC environment but may not know how to present the idea or are curious to see the interest in such an event.
* Roleplay and the RPS – This discussion will be the place that players, both new and old may voice questions they have on APPLYING the RPS meter system into their roleplay. Questions on when is it appropriate to use dice metering, suggestions on the use of RP$ in a roleplay scenario, etc are all welcomed here.
* OOC Chatter – This area is reserved for any and ALL OOC talk that does NOT directly involve the SIM. Jokes, music sharing, games, inspirational stories, OOC Leaves of Absence due to Real Life events are welcomed to be brought to this category.
For all those new or confused by the Discussion Forum in general, we will be posting a Discussion into Rules and Administration on HOW TO: Start a Discussion on NING.
As we’ve seen many times the wonderful stories players have created through their roleplay or character backgrounds, we are leaving the entire blog section dedicated to the IC Character Stories and Backgrounds. It is generally felt that as Discussion are ongoing topics that do refresh to the top of the forum listing every new comment made that a finished and shared product such as the Character story should remain in the Blogs, where topics only remain from newest to oldest.
In the Forum Discussion HOW TO: Start a Discussion on NING, we will be mentioning how to start a blog and noting the varying difference and benefits of utilizing both tools.

Roleplay and the RPS forum *high fives for that one*
Quick question, given that the nings intent to break world wide tradition on blog use and the characters and backgrounds as a question discussion forum. Am I going to be required to migrate my IC story threads from the current IC stories and backgrounds forum to my pages blog and remove all my blog blogs?

The stuff currently posted in the discussions (which is now the karamoon characters and backgrounds) will remain for the time being, but yes. from now on, the all future IC stories and backgrounds will go into the blog section. The biggest reason for that change is the IC character stories aren't really discussed. Not in a true discussion way. Sure people will comment and go "wow that was so in depth." But its not like they can change anything that happened in the IC characters story. What had happened.... already happened. the discussion area is going to be left for things that can be improved on and changed. Your stories, Adro are awesome. You don't need them changed in anyway.

Hmm. I guess, even if people had either objections to a certain portrayal or suggestions on how to improve it; can still be done in flat file.
Right, I'll watch how things go and cross the bridge later.

It looks good to me, we want to emphasis to everyone though in the Roleplay and RPS forum that it is not a substitute for the complaint process and town hall methods of communicating with the SIM Admins. What we found is trying to air out character complaints and issues that should be discussed with the admins on the Ning produces only needless drama and bad feelings. Perhaps it should be called PPS tips instead. We really want to move away from the Ning being used as a means to resolve issues and only be a social place for players to relax and interact.
There is an existing forum just for RPS issues on the B&J web site and is accessed directly from the ?Help command on the meter. I think Kenn would prefer players with RPS issues and problems using it.

oh most definitely! The biggest thing for the Roleplay and the RPS is the emphasis there in the ROLEPLAYING in the RPS. all the bugs and various technical issues SHOULD go to Kenn and the BNJ team. Because honestly.. they could explain ALL the technical problems way better than any of us could!

Bink I am totally behind this as you know! One more thing on my mind....photos....was wondering if there were anyway to catergorise them, nothing too complicated, just maybe IC and OOC. I do think they need some moderation at times :)

I think it is wonderful that a revision of the ning forums is under way and couldn't agree more that the concept of sharing is paramount in achieving success in a group. Hopefully the five discussion topics outlined provide something for everybody to be involved with. For me the ning provides a means to address OCC needs and objectives, providing for a more fluent IC experience. Thanks to all that keep it alive.

The revision is actually completed! Has been for at least a month now. You can see the explained revisions in the Rules under "How to properly post on the NING. It goes over the categories and what each Discussions and Blogs are used for by players.
On the making One ning to rule them all *chuckles* I can't make that decisions for anyone, the best I can do is write up a written response on the asking for such and present to all the Admin on the next meeting on behalf of the curious for such and see how Doable BOTH the RC Admin and the KM Admin feel joining their nings as one would be. But I will gladly present the proposal to them for you guys.

That would be wonderful if you would suggest that, since I think some will agree, some won't but it opens much more things for players. Players planning global events easily (can now too but... but!) ^_^

I have some suggestions to add.
First thing I think should happen with nings would be one and only Ambrea Ning.
This is because there are 14 sims split on two nings. It would be more interesting to hear whats happening in whole ambrea, and to meet all players we have around.
Next I think our forums need much more categories. Ning reminds me of Facebook, and I don't need that.
Some of the categories could be Suggestions and Ideas, Promoting groups / places, OOC, Specific sim Discussion, IC stories, History of characters/ factions / ambrean Gods, Other discussions.
This is because I think we really need forum, friendly forum to lead out thoughts together and make better roleplay for everyone

Make a category of the markets available... Trade and stuff... what you can by at the Castle, at the Port or at other places :) RC Ning has it too... perhaps we could stimulate trade-rp with it?
