Karamoon Konversation

A Roleplay Community in Secondlife

Hello everybody,

Factions, where are you?

And why do I ask? Well a small list here to see where factions shout to for some help, to organize and start up things:
The drow (Joylia)
The Healers (China)
The South Port (Kenn) and number two!

None or not too many reactions to these topics. Ok, first things first: Sorry Kenn for my comment on your thread; yet it never stopped others to show that they like it or not.

Where is the organization in the factions of Karamoon? Factions seem to be shattered over the place and the representation on the Ning is little, or at least it looks like it. I’m sure enough people would like to play evil and discuss things, yet little replies on Joylia’s thread. The healers want to have an IC/OOC meeting in-world, nobody replied. What happened to the healers in the Port anyway? Have they left? Aren’t they bothered enough to look here and discuss and organize things? That is also to the Drow; luckily there are some replies to this thread, but I would have thought more people would reply to it.

Is this because we don’t encourage people enough to visit the Ning and keep an eye on it? Or do we just want to do our thing in-world and see where it ends? If we bring some structure to the factions and inside of them, communication, we can deploy so much more thoughtful RP’s. Of course, the RP must stay free-form; but aren’t factions made to discuss things with each other inside and outside of factions. And not only the faction leader to the members, but also along each other.

I am sad that so little replies are made to these topics. Opportunities arise to bring your char to a new level like the Southport, to give it a good direction like the evil and how to despise men like a real drow.

Perhaps I am just mistaken and all, I actually hope so… because that would mean that the factions are doing well… It just saddens me to see these topics being so lonely and empty… OOC we are all here to help each other, to discuss RP lines and to deploy them… to bring fun and passion to everyone who share at least one thing with us all: Role Play.

Oh the healers are still around Alex....they're just spread out and working within other factions doing their journeyman duties....but no matter how many posts I make here, I still have trouble getting a response. It is frustrating. It's like herding cats! LOL

That is exactly my point... that you have to herd them :(

If I had to guess, I'd say the majority of players in Ambrea don't even know that the two Nings (Karamoon and Ravenscraig) exist. On top of that, I'd say a good 50% of those who DO know it exists don't really care, as they prefer to be involved only in-world. It's much like with an MMO, where there may be millions of people online, but 2,000 on the forums.

No need to apologize for the reply to my post Alex, but I did want to stop anyone from nominating others for the position - was looking for people who wanted it themselves :-)

I think posting things on the Ning is important - and encouraging Ning activity is important - but we always need to back up every one of our notices (especially to factions) with in-world versions. Even in world not everything gets read (how many people just click through their notice windows when logging in?).

Communication is always the most challenging thing for a community - and yes, faction leaders have to herd. It's a fact of life. That's what makes a leader a leader - they have the charisma and work ethic that allow them to herd and direct those who follow them. Not that people are sheep ... but that they will simply go off and do their own thing if they don't have anything better to do.

Why dont we create an Ambrean ning and promote it.

Well, I for myself encourage people always to get hooked on the Ning, why? Because it is fun and resourceful. I know that many others do that as well, great job! And yeah, perhaps I should send every now and then notices to my groups why they should be on the Ning.

Like you said, posting here is of importance. Especially for faction leaders. They can keep track of the movements and all of their faction members. Also for faction members it is a good point to see what is happening to the faction, what the leader has to say and to spill their guts. Spilling guts is a good thing if done properly, why? Because that is a big part of communication. Communication is of importance, people tend to get fed up if they don't have a point where they cannot discuss things. Even if it is negative feedback, it is feedback.

That brings me to my next point... which actually flows from above. Members inside factions should discuss things. What is happening, what is going on and help each other. Critisize as adults other ideas, or perhaps fill them with your own ideas and experiences. I have done this with Fab Fabian in some discussions regarding the Castle and it worked really well. Also other people jumped in to give their opinions and views. Sharing and caring makes a faction grow and more steerable; also more organized...

And organization is a good thing. It is less work for a faction leader to herd when the members are involved. When they find out that someone listens to them, and respects their views, thoughts and ideas... they will easier help out and stick around.

It is hard to set this scructure up; I am fully aware of this... own experiences... But I think we could all put a little bit more effort into this. Not only the people who are here now on the Ning already, but as many people as possible. -No, I don't say we lean back too much; but I only want to give the idea of encouraging each other more. If I find a healer in the Port who is new and not hooked here, I could tell that person. If I find a drow in the same situation, I could tell that person about the Drows section here. OOC we are all here to help each other...

Perhaps we should break down the wall of rivalry OOC'ly. The good guys IC are players OOC. The evil guys IC are also players OOC. So why not directing OOC'ly the newer players in the right direction? That would be a wonderful world!

At least, I am going to do more my best to get people more involved on the Ning. Hence I made a lot more threads and stuff; but I feel I can do more. I hope that you guys will pick this up too and make the Ning alive. As well here as for the players who are also in Ravenscraig.

Fabian, your idea has come forward a couple of times... I was never pro of it; but now -we- try to increase the cross sim/region RP... It appeals more and more to me. What do others think?

The "new" direction this ning has taken since official Forum Moderators have been assigned has kept me from posting as of late. Moving issues with the Karamoon Rules and Administration off this site has diminished the site's appeal in my opinion. Controversial subjects get capped unless one is part of the "in" crowd. The factions are just cliques, and the ning has become a means of godmodding & metagaming.

Regarding "What happened to the healers in the Port anyway?" On 10/24/09 there was a scuffle in the town square. After waiting for over an hour, while standing on the porch of the infirmary I finally asked one of the injured participants if they required any attention. My attempts at concern for their face wounds were met with responses such as "I'll just wear a mask." With potions on every corner why bother stopping by when you can just get you're healing "to go". Interaction, inclusion, INworld.

And? If the player doesn't want to be healed... for own personal reasons, does that mean that others feel the same? That person with the scratches on his face was me; and no, Alexander personally doesn't like medical attention and given he is a vampire, his healing goes automatically... just takes some time; hence he wears a mask.

For him, it is a personal reason. Healing is for the weak if it is just a scratch... Plus he had other things to do. But does that mean that others didn't want to have medical attention? I think this is a totally different threat anyway; perhaps one for in the Healers Guild (!)... This is what I mean with communicating.

Plus, there are only two persons allowed to heal Alexander: China and Kia. That is his rule; if people are not happy with it... is that tough, my char doesn't change that easily with certain things. One day he will come in perhaps with severe wounds; and then he will enjoy the fact that healers are around... But not for a minor injury

And no, he doesn't use potions. But do you go to the doctor for a scratch..?
